Remembering Barney Smith

RRepisode6.jpg

Barney Smith was a plumber by trade but he was best known as the creator of the Toilet Seat Art Museum. It wasn’t the legacy he set out to create, but it’s one he was proud to own.

Barney passed away last week at the age of 98.

As a tribute to Barney, the San Antonio Storybook is rebroadcasting the episode of The Works we produced back in 2016 when Barney was still giving personal tours of his museum.

In Defense Of The Toilet Seat Museum

When he was twelve years old, Barney Smith memorized a poem about painting. As luck would have it, he would grow up to be a painter although the canvases upon which he chose to paint were somewhat unusual. In this month's episode of The Works we tell the story of Barney and of his museum.

As always, please talk a moment to listen to his story and if you like what you hear, subscribe to the podcast on iTunes where you can also rate the show and leave a comment.
